Data recovery can take anywhere from an hour to days. So Fixed-it offer a collect and return service.
There are 3 main types of drive failure:
Logical: where a drive is working, but the data is no longer accessible through windows.
Mechanical: which means either the read/write heads or the motor have become faulty. If your drive is making a lot of clicking or grinding noise it is probably a mechanical failure.
Electronic: where one or more components have failed on the electronics board or logic board on the back of the hard drive.
Most failures are logical. With locigal failures data can normally be recovered quite quickly and on occassion the drive can be coaxed back to life.
Where the failure is Mechanical or Electronic, faulty parts have to be replaced in a class 100 clean room using parts from a donor hard disk. This is a temporary repair to allow as much data as posible to be recovered.
Once we have the hard drive we can examine it and let you know what type of failure has occured along with an estimate of cost and time.
Once you have confirmed receipt of your data, all copies made by Fixed-it are destroyed.
But please remember that there are no guarentees with data recovery. Sometimes it really is lost. That's why we offer a No Data No Fee service.
